ACCOUNTANT

BASIS OF EMPLOYMENT: Full time, 12 Month, 7.5 hours/day
RATE OF PAY: Per CSEA Agreement. Appointment will be provisional pending Dutchess County Civil Service Exam. Competitive Salary and Benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS: Thorough knowledge of modern accounting principles and practices, particularly as they relate to governmental accounting. Ability to provide excellent customer service. Understanding of a variety of labor contracts as these relate to payroll, deductions, and benefits. Ability to analyze, verify, and prepare financial statements, transactions, and schedules. Ability to work collaboratively with others in a business office team.

EITHER: (A)Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree which includes or is supplemented by the completion of eighteen (18) semester credit hours in accounting and one (1) year of full-time paid professional accounting or financial auditing experience in maintaining or auditing a governmental agency double entry general ledger, appropriation accounting or auditing, and the preparation of budget and financial reports or in maintaining or auditing double entry books of a business including the general ledger, and the preparation of budget and financial reports;

OR:(B)Completion of a minimum of sixty (60) semester credit hours at a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university which included or is supplemented by the completion of eighteen (18) semester credit hours in accounting and three (3) years of the experience described in (A) above;
OR:(C)An equivalent combination of the training and experience described in (A) and (B) above.
Note: Graduate work leading to a Master's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance or a closely related field may be substituted for the experience described above on a year-for-year basis (one year equals 30 credit hours) to a maximum of one (1) year or 30 credit hours.
Duties: Chiefly responsible for payroll review, changes, and adjustments. Work collaboratively with the human resource office to correctly ensure new employees are correctly onboarded into the financial systems; prepare reports and analyses for various members of senior administration; interact with the business office team; provide information for various auditing activities; participate in the preparation of schedules and financial statements; enter and maintain data in various databases.

Duties: Develop and implement staff development activities focused on enabling K-12 teachers to utilize a variety of technologies, internet resources and software within their instructional programs. Provide modeling for and/or mentoring of teachers in curriculum planning and delivery that engages students in inquiry and critical thinking skills through the use of technology resources (hardware, software, wireless, media, internet, video conferencing, etc.). Research, test and recommend hardware, software and new technology applications for use in component districts. Support all aspects of the NYSED Regents Reform Agenda as a member of the Educational Resources division. This includes an expectation that this individual will maintain a personal staff development program through attendance at seminars and workshops, and by reviewing appropriate publications.

Qualifications: Holds a current NYS teaching certificate. Has at least 3 years of teaching experience. SAS/SDA/SDL certification preferred. Has significant experience using computers and other technologies for instructional purposes in elementary, middle or secondary schools and/or has significant experience assisting or teaching adults how to use computers or other technologies for instructional purposes.
